Today I've got a bit of info about an ultra small spy camera set that, with a little modification, will work great on the Parkzone Vapor or Blade MCX. The best part; it will only set you back $46.
Remove the sticker from the outside of the transmitter and use a small screwdriver or razor to pop open the plastic case.
Desolder the four wires from the camera board.
Using the pictures on this article resolder your new connector. There are four connections; 2 power and 2 ground. I soldered across the two positive pads and then ran a jumper between the two grounds (there is one on each board). If you're using the Parkzone micro batteries you can get your connector from HobbyKing.
Mount it to your rig. I glued a piece of balsa to the battery holder on the Vapor and connected my battery and camera to it with orthodontic rubber bands.
The reciever runs on 5v so cut the plug off of the power supply and connect it to a 5v source (ubec or 7805 regulator). The striped wire is positive. You can use the left over power brick for running your Parkzone battery charger at home.
Always turn on your video transmitter before your rc control. This prevents your radio from chosing a conficting frequency.
Post your videos in the comments.
FAQs -
Q: Doesn't the 2.4ghz controller interfere with the 2.4ghz video?
A: No. As long as the Video transmitter is turned on before the RC control, I have not noticed any problems.
Q: Does it run on a single cell?
A: Yes. Inside the plug you removed in step 2 is a 3v regulator. I've ran this transmitter down to 1v so be careful about overdischarging your batteries.
Q: How does it fly? How good is it? Where is the video? etc?
A: I've got my easycap running and on the next calm day, I will get some video up.
